The Swan Lake Project presents
" SEEDS - A Multimedia Event with Sculptures by Liviu Mocan".
Liviu Mocan is one of the leading Romanian sculptors, author of an impressive number of works including the Pillars of Silence, a public monument dedicated to the martyrs of the 1989 revolution against communism, placed in the center of the city of Cluj. His sculpture series SEEDS will be presented for the first time to the German public.

September Ostrów Wlkp, Poland - 1. Animated Film Festival
The 1. Festival of Animated Film celebrates inauguration.
A number of films were screened at two venues (Kino "Target" and PIK Centre) over two days. At the centre of the animated film festival were the works of the old polish animation masters (J. Kucia, P. Dumala, Z. Rybczynski, R., Czekala, J. Lenica, M. Kijowski, D. Szczechura) and the animated films of the "Polish Young Animation" creators. Jakub Lech ("III", "Stalker", Get In Get Out"), absolvent of The Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw, Poland, was present at the screening.
Prof. Marcin Gizycki (Rhode Island School of Design) discussed various aspects of the Polish Animation with the audience.

WIERZBICKI.ORG develops the site of INSTYTUT ROZBITEK.
Inspired by the Sundance Institute, composer Jan A.P. Kaczmarek founded Instytut Rozbitek as a center for development of new work in three areas of the arts: film, theater and music. Located in western Poland, Rozbitek will be open to participants from around the globe.
Rozbitek will support artists of independent vision, and, at the same time, will introduce methods of American filmmaking and successful marketing, particularly important to survival of Central European artistic communities. Developing new talent will be the primary purpose, but the Instytut also plans to follow up with the production and exhibition of new works.
Instytut Rozbitek is a nonprofit organization. Inaugural events and programs are set to commence in the summer of 2005.

International Meeting on Culture+Art+Multimedia, C+A+M 2004, was organised by the Media Alliance Mittweida (www.m-a-m.net), University of Applied Sciences Mittweida, Germany, supported by MOST (www.most-program.org) and Media Institute Mittweida e.V.
The meeting was held to accompany the first Swan Lake Award 2004, presented on 16 th June 2004 at the University of Applied Sciences in Mittweida, Germany.
Nowadays, art and culture, in particular their multimedia incarnations, are becoming a sound and workable platform of dialogue and democracy, which are important factors of sustainable development and cooperation. Every effort has to be made to support and encourage quality multimedia products and events which reach across borders, subjects, businesses, etc.

March, 12-13 1ST WORKSHOP OF MOST YOUNG LEADERS NETWORK (MYLNORK)
The MYLNORK aims at promoting and advancing mobile technology leadership ideas and best practices among 25- to 40-year-old mobile high-tech managers, policy analysts, financial officers, lawyers, lobbyists, and other professionals working in the telecom and e/m-content industry and living in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).
The MYLNORK is to be organized as a club of interested people who satisfy the membership criteria (to be defined).
The ambition of MYLNORK is to provide an opportunity for young people to develop and deepen their relationships with their counterparts in CEE countries and fellow senior telecom professionals, as well as with top managers of various high-tech industries and e/m-content industry.
1st MYLNORK Workshop
The Workshop went under the title "Towards a Joyful Leadership". The objectives were as follows:

to get acquainted with the MOST Programme;

to identify the specificity of high-tech leadership and management;
-
to get acquainted with assorted decision-making and negotiations techniques;
-
to discuss the matters of mobile technology impact on democracy and sustainable growth in Central and Eastern Europe.
The Workshop offered unique opportunities to explore cultural differences first hand, challenge diplomatic skills daily, build confidence, and enhance decision-making skills in an exciting atmosphere of challenge and fun.

Abstract:
Die gegenwärtige Entwicklung im Multimedia-Bereich ist durch eine sehr hohe Dynamik gekennzeichnet. Visionen von Ultra-Wideband (UWB) für die hochbandbreitige Vernetzung von Heimgeräten rücken heute schon in greifbare Nähe. Die Zeit der Funknetze und drahtloser Sensor-Netze ist angelaufen - Ambient-Multimedia, Bio-Multimedia, Augmented Reality und Ubiquitous Networks sind die neuesten Schlagwörter.
In der Zeit der so genannten Medienkonvergenz verlieren viele Begriffe aus dem Multimediabereich an Definitionsschärfe, angefangen von dem Begriff Multimedia selbst. Im Vortrag wird es versucht die bisherige und die voraussichtliche, zukünftige Evolution von Multimedia zu beschreiben und manchen Begriffen eine neuere, zeitgemäße Definition zu geben.

The virtual equivalent of a conventional lecture or oral presentation, additionally enriched with integrated interactive elements and access to additional learning resources, has been termed an " eLecture". WIERZBICKI.ORG's eLecture project deals with practical aspects of the eLecture and with strategies for implementing this method of teaching.
I have reviewed some findings on my own 'best practices' in eLecture in the Vienna paper.

January Web Based Training Module released

WIERZBICKI.ORG's Web Based Training Module (WBTM) is available for tests at http://www.htwm.de/rw/wbt. The module is programmed in Flash and is XML based.
The WBTM has been used as a learning tool accompanying my lectures on Multimedia Production at the University of Applied Sciences in Mittweida. The questions have been prepared by my students and are available in German only.
