The International Conference on e-Learning (ICEL-2008) invites researchers, practitioners and academics to present their research findings, work in progress, case studies and conceptual advances in areas of work where education and technology intersect. The conference brings together varied groups of people with different perspectives, experiences and knowledge in one location. It aims to help practitioners find ways of putting research into practice and researchers to gain an understanding of real-world problems, needs and aspirations.

Der Workshop "Innovative Lehr- und Unterrichtsgestaltung" richtet sich vor allem an Sächsische Hochschullehrer und soll den Erfahrungsaustausch hinsichtlich einer wirkungsvollen Lehr- und Unterrichtsgestaltung unterstützen. Es ist vorgesehen, besonders die praktischen Probleme bei der Anwendung innovativer Lehr- und Unterrichtsformen in den Blickpunkt der Diskussion zu stellen. Die Vielfältigkeit und die oftmals mit sehr einfachen Mitteln erreichte individuelle Ausgestaltung von Lehre bzw. Unterricht durch eine wirkungsvolle Positionierung von Menschen, Instrumenten und Organisation, sollen Anregung und Ermutigung für die eigene Arbeit vermitteln. Der oftmals als Einzelkämpfer tätige Professor braucht den kollegialen Gedankenaustausch, er braucht Informationen und Anregungen. Dies soll mit dem Workshop "Innovative Lehr- und Unterrichtsgestaltung" angestoßen werden.

Die Veranstaltung beginnt am 08.11.07 um 10:00 Uhr mit Kurzvorträgen (ca. 20 min) mit anschließender Diskussion (ca. 10 min). Die konkreten Themen sind eine Auswahl aus den eingehenden Vorschlägen und sind zunächst sehr breit und offen gehalten. Neben didaktischen Grundfragen können methodische oder organisatorische Probleme bis hin zu technischen Gesamt- oder Teillösungen für computerunterstützte Lehr- und Lernformen zur Diskussion gestellt werden. Nach einer Mittagspause (13-14:00 Uhr) folgen zwei weitere Vorträge und danach eine Session mit Impulsvorträgen (10 min) vorgesehen, wo Vorhaben, wenig ausgereifte Gedanken, praktisch bewährte Programme oder gut geeignete Geräte vorgestellt werden können. Hierbei sind auch spontane Berichte über Gedanken und Vorhaben sächsischer Hochschulen gefragt, die Anregung für die eigenen Arbeiten vermitteln sollen. Gegen 17:00 Uhr schließt die Veranstaltung. Interessierte Kollegen können auch noch anschließend im Computerkabinett des Fachbereiches Wirtschaftswissenschaften spezielle Lösungen und Probleme ausprobieren und erörtern.

Prof. Wierzbicki will present a paper "The Knowledge Quincunx - Non-Linear Concepts in Face-to-Face Teaching" at the first Online Educa Conference in Moscow, Russia.
The conference is held within the framework of ONLINE EDUCA annual conferences and for the first time will be conducted in the capital of the Russian Federation.

The Nokia Ubimedia MindTrek Awards is an international competition arranged by MindTrek, Nokia and Tampere Region Centre of Expertise in Ubiquitous Computing.
The purpose of the competition is to encourage makers of digital media to generate ideas and develop new and innovative ubimedia products & services.
The entries are expected to take a stand on the following questions, for example:

• How does ubiquitous computing affect media environments?
• What are intelligent media environments like?
• What will the location- and context-aware media services of the future be like?

Prof. Wierzbicki has been appointed member of the Accreditation Commission for the Bachelor Courses in Media and Communication Management at the Hochschule Calw.

The WorldMediaFestival is an international competition for audiovisual communications media. Launched 2000 in Hamburg, Germany, WordMediaFestival has become a forum for leading communications professionals from around the world and one of the premier events in the media business worldwide.

The screening of the festival entries, the WorldMediaFestival Gala Award Ceremony and all the subsidiary events will take place on May 8th 2007 in Germany‘s media metropolis Hamburg.

Prof. Wierzbicki is jury member of the "Best of Corporate Publishing Award".

Beim Gründerkongress Multimedia 2007 am 6. März 2007 in Berlin präsentierte das Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Technologie innovative Multimedia-Unternehmen aus seinen Initiativen Gründerwettbewerb – Mit Multimedia erfolgreich starten, Existenzgründungen aus der Wissenschaft (EXIST) und High-Tech Gründerfonds.

Die parlamentarische Staatssekretärin im BMWi, Dagmar Wöhrl zeichnete erfolgreiche Multimedia-Gründer aus, Dr. Michael Brandkamp stellte die Strategie des High-Tech Gründerfonds von Bundesregierung und Industrie für die nächsten Jahren vor und erfolgreiche Unternehmensgründer berichteten über Ihre Erfahrungen. In Vorträgen und einer Begleitausstellung konnte man innovative und begeisternde Multimedia-Unternehmen, deren Start vom BMWi begleitet wurde erleben und die Kongressteilnehmer beim zwanglosen Abendempfang am Vorabend im Aquarium des Berliner Zoologischen Gartens treffen.
