“Concrete Nests” – A Transmedia Project by Students of the Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoka

Students from the Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoka, Faculty of Theatre and Television, created a transmedia non-linear documentary “Concrete Nests“. The project brings together individuals from all over the world in a virtual apartment building in which they express their innermost experiences during the ongoing Covid pandemic. The Interactive Movies part of the project was supervised by Prof. Wierzbicki.

Steven Cravis, a San Francisco-based pianist wrote music for an interactive documentary “Following the Sun” about a Romanian sculptor Liviu Mocan. The documentary was produced by the students of the Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoka, Romania, and the University of Applied Sciences Mittweida, Germany. WIERZBICKI.ORG designed a cover for Cravis’ album “Positive Transformation Variations” with music used for the movie production. WIERZBICKI.ORG Launches e-Lecture.org. The courses at the site follow the ideas of EVA, The European Virtual Academy, an ERASMUS project set up in 2011 and funded by the EU Lifelong Learning Programme. EVA was intended to be a platform which would enhance the quality of teaching and learning. This would likewise increase the amount of European cooperation between universities and boost the overall teaching quality. After the funding period, which lasted from 2011 to 2013, the partners agreed to continue activities on a voluntary basis. Unfortunately, due the lack of financial resources, and also interest in continuing the activities , EVA discintinued 2019.

20th Annual Polish Film Festival Los Angeles

The Polish American Film Society announced the 20th Annual Polish Film Festival in Los Angeles, Hollywood, (October 18 – 24, 2019) celebrating the greatest achievements of Polish filmmakers.

The festival will open on Friday, October 18, 2019, with VALLEY OF THE GODS by Lech Majewski, starring Josh Hartnett, Jaime Ray Newman, John Malkovich and music by  Jan A. P. Kaczmarek. The star-studded gala during which both Polish and American moviemakers will walk the red carpet at the WGA Theatre, is an extravagant start to a seven-day-long celebration of Polish Cinema through October 24, 2019 with subsequent  screenings at the Laemmle’s NoHo 7 and Monica Film Center.  (www.polishfilmla.org)
